I just finished reading a book I shall not soon forget. My first reaction after putting it down was an honest.....Wow....!

Ut enim ad minim veniam, consectetur adipisicing elit, sed do.

Bring Back Summertime is a dramatically touching story depicting one family's heartfelt lessons in courage and a testament to the limitless ability of the human spirit when it is supported by unfaultering bonds of love and personal faith in a `higher power'.

Revelations come to us in many ways, shapes and forms, and when the depths of one's love is challenged by circumstance, human vulnerability can either weaken and diminish us or push one to the very limits of our personal strengths. As the reader, you are witness to the human spirit's ability to rally in a fierce battle of wits, mind over matter, belief beyond belief, in an emotionally compelling fight for control over life after a severe accident.

Out of what appears to the `medical experts' to be a hopeless situation, comes the revelation of the limitless capabilities of the human spirit when encouraged by `unwavering faith and the bonds of love'. A story of an immensely courageous man and his devoted wife and young family, their steadfast friends, and an entire community who have been touched by the news of his life changing event. This vital component touches the very soul, personifying the true meaning and significance of those precious vows taken on their wedding day; a promise `to love, and keep in sickness and health, until death do us part'.

Let us not underestimate the demure and seemingly fragile wife and mother, who turns 'superwoman' in the face of potential failure at every turn, yet always and steadfastly, nurturing her families peace of mind and demonstrating an undeniable example of her faith that a `higher power' is a constant force to be drawn upon in their lives.

This is a novel; like a beautifully directed film (supported by the likes of Cuba Gooding Jr. or Denzel Washington), to be appreciated from beginning to end. And when you are done and that lump in your throat subsides, you will be left wanting to know more about this man and woman and the family, who through years of sharing the ups and downs, the ongoing challenges, the bonds of love, laughter, tears, and accomplishment, maintain their commitment to the 'man' who continues to amaze and inspire them. Take a deep breath reader and be prepared to be touched.

I applaud the author (and main character), Jeanne Starr Gater, who had the will and courage and incredible aptitude and spirit, to have put this event to paper during a time of daunting personal challenges. Perhaps out of the intense need to make sense of it all, she still had the fortitude to not lose sight of the needs of her still growing family; maintaining continuity and necessary supervision over their daily lives; to encourage their activities for attaining their goals, managing each family members' exemplary accomplishments and success, while managing to balance the responsibilities for maintaining the family finances, daily visits to hospital to comfort and encourage her husband's recovery, overseeing complicated medical decisions and in-home nursing care while at the same time, accelerating a professional career that must now replace what the family had previously depended upon. Without a doubt, their story is truly an inspiration for all readers. Enjoy! SJK
